Mini-Interview: Helen Kotsonis, Director

What is your character and/or role?
Director, Producer

Describe the show in a sentence.
Funny, sexy and heartfelt. Prepare for everything!

What is your favourite song in the show?
“Man’s World” by far. You can’t help but clap and want to sing along, even though there’s so many puns and tongue-twisters you couldn’t possibly start! Also, there’s an Elvis impersonator, so who could resist?

What is your biggest challenge in working on this show?
Choreographing the songs.

Describe a funny rehearsal moment.
There’s a joke in the play that involves finger-licking. Robin decided to experiment with how far he could push that joke and let’s just say a fist was involved. I think he broke me!

Mini-Interview: Katie Avery, Music Director

What is your character and/or role?
Musical Director/Fiddler/live sound effects

Describe the show in a sentence.
If there’s a lesson to be learned from this show, it’s that flowers and a situation specific card can solve all your relationship problems.

What is your favourite song in the show?
Never Fall in Love with a Musician

What is your biggest challenge in working on this show?
Figuring out what’s going on in Robin’s head and then getting it on paper and communicating that to people who may or may not read music.

Describe a funny rehearsal moment.
Somehow I’ve managed to fool everyone into thinking I play guitar.

Mini-Interview: Robin Sharp, Playwright

Robin Sharp

What is your character and/or role?
I play Trixie Dixon, emerging country star and bad girl extraordinaire.

Describe the show in a sentence.
Ridiculous.

What is your favourite song in the show?
It’s hard to pick one…I think ‘Country Enough For Me’ is a lot of fun.

What is your biggest challenge in working on this show?
Being in nearly every scene is challenge enough…

Describe a funny rehearsal moment.
Nothing funny ever happens to me, that’s why I’m a comedy writer 😉
